“I am interested in anything about revolt, disorder , chaos – especially activity that seems to have no meaning. It seems to me to be the road toward freedom… Rather than starting inside, I start outside and reach the mental through the physical.”
- Jim Morrison
Yesterday I went on a delightful little solo adventure to the Brisbane Gallery Of Modern Art and was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t been to an art gallery for a few years, so it was quite an exciting and inspiring experience. I took a few photos of the works that stood out to me the most. I have to do an assignment on one of them – very hard to choose!
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don’t do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she’s ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you’re going to fall
Tell ‘em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you’ve just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she’ll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s “off with her head!”
Remember what the dormouse said;
“Feed your head!
Feed your head!”
We are learning about the Psychedelic Era in music studies this semester. An amazingly cool time in history that I already know a little about and so wish that I was apart of. It’s great fun going to Uni, watching the Doors and Hendrix on YouTube while listening to a lecturer who experienced every aspect of this culture and is so passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to music.
Get rid of all the ecstacy and crystal meth that is scarily polluting society, and bring back the acid and sweet mary jane so we can all love one another again.
“Woodstock became recognized as one of the most significant events in the history of rock music, but its effect was even grander. In an America rife with racial tension and at war in Vietnam, Woodstock defined the culture of a generation, a message of hope for a brighter and more peaceful future”
Burk Uzzle’s photographs make me wish time travel existed.

“Where my idea comes from is that every time I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those Post-It notes and deadlines. I manipulate the Post-It notes to do pixel-like stop motion and there are some interactions between real actors and Post-Its,” Savannah College of Art and Design student Bang-yao Liu said of his incredibly clever little clip.
